Patrick Breyer, a member of the European Parliament representing the Piratenpartei Deutschland, shared on X that a majority of the EU Parliament’s lead committees endorsed the updated AML laws on March 19. Breyer, along with Gunnar Beck from Alternative für Deutschland, were the only two members who opposed the ban on anonymous crypto payments, which is targeted at transactions made through hosted or custodial crypto wallets provided by third-party service providers like centralized exchanges.
